The wedding reception was out an an old estate in the country. Very pretty. Dan wore a Barong, the traditional formal wear of the Phillipines (the bride is Filipino). It looked silly at first, but there were so many men wearing them, I got used to it quickly.

Tonight Dan and I went to our friends' rehersal dinner and got these Leis because it was a Luau-themed picnic. Frisbee inherited them after the evening was over.

I've been driving back and forth, back and forth, to the middle school where I'm doing my pilot study. It's a beautiful drive so I took a picture of it today.

4-19-08

Squirt is learning how to drive. Today he drove over to the city high school which has a grafitti wall.

4-18-08

This morning Dan and I were having breakfast outside on the back deck when we saw two hot air balloons fly over our house. Here's one. We flew in one many years ago, for Dan's 30th birthday.

The Save the Penguins kit all put together in the box.

Guess who got some Crocs too?

The Lawn at the University of Virginia, as photographed through the window of the Rotunda. I was showing my old roommate around with her husband and kids.

Igor turns 30! Here's Anne with his cake. We went to his party.

Today I went to meet with the teacher I'll be working with in the fall. We'll call her Miss Smith. Anyway, Miss Smith did a design project the opposite of my dissertation project- she had kids build something around a soda can to keep a hot liquid hot. Look how many kids have the misconception that aluminum foil is a good insulator!

This Jeffersonia diphylla, also called twin-leaf, was a gift from a student many years ago. Each spring it blooms more and gets bigger. Here it is blooming. When we move, it's going with us.

4-1-08

Still at the conference, here I am with my buddy Igor and my advisor.

3-30-08

I presented a paper at NARST and so did my cousin from California. Here we are together after our presentations.

First day of spring. My pretty tree out front is blooming. I love that tree. Dan wants to cut it down, but the nice landscape guy said we should just prune it back some. I had a good day. The IRB approved of my research and called it "exempt" which helps. Plus, my bracelet is going to get fixed for free. It was a good first day of spring. AND my Jeffersonia Dyphalia is blooming again.

Yeah! A clean, freshly painted and organized kitchen pantry! At least something is under my control. It rained on my shelves outside, but I rescued them. I got mad at Squirt tonight because I had to go pick him up in the dark in the rain. I don't see well at night in the rain.

3-16-08

OK, so my dissertation is really getting to me again. This time I tackled the kitchen pantry. It's disgusting. I took out all the food and cleaned the shelves. Then I sent Dan to the store to get paint.

3-15-08

All the kids were over tonight- what a treat! Also, the closet is all filled up with coats again.

3-14-08

Today I was really bugged about my dissertation and got really sad. I haven't been sleeping well and have been really anxious. I had a bad dream last night and had a hard day. Dan brought me flowers. This is our pretty living room.

3-13-08

Here are photos of the closet after I painted it with the same paint from Dan's office. Sunny closet!

3-13-08

Here is a photo of a contrail over my neighbor's house.

3-11-08

And here is an after picture. Nice sunny color. See this link here for a picture from last year.

3-12-08

I'm getting really bogged down with my dissertation so this afternoon I decided to paint the hall closet. Here are the before pictures.

3-6-08

Aza and I painted Dan's office over spring break. Here is a before picture.

3-4-08

I'm feeling the weight of my dissertation hanging over me. Jes took this picture.

3-3-08

Dan is getting ready for his backpacking trip. He ordered this little tripod for a camera. It's all bendy. I set it on a basket and took a self portrait of it.

3-1-08

First day of March. Dan and I went for a hike on the trail around town and I saw blooming crocuses! Then we went to eat dinner at my favorite place, Sticks, and I saw the criss cross of contrails out the window of the restaurant.

March

I am currently buried underneath the weight of a dissertation proposal that is marching to a tight timeline. Every once in a while, I take a photo and intend to upload it here, but for the time being, consider my daily photo blogging on sabbatical. Hope to be back in business soon.

Mom's birthday! And a lunar eclipse! Here's my best picture out of like 80something that I took. Jes came over and she and Squirt and I stood outside in the cold watching the moon get eaten up by the Earth's shadow. Dan came outside for a while but he was too cold. Jes was all wrapped up in a sleeping bag, which helped.

It's a pretty day out and I've been working really hard on re-writing Chapter 3. Now that all the Marzipan is gone, I'm going through withdrawals. And feeling chubby! My mom called today because she got my present-- a book I had made for her. She was soooo excited about it. I'll take a picture of it because I had one made for me too.

2-18-08

OK, so like, I ate some marzipan. Well, SOMEBODY ate it. There was 2 pounds on Valentines' morning and now this is all that's left. It's almost gone. Jes must have snuck over here and eaten it, or else Squirt ate it what with his ability to stay up all night and do things we only learn about days later.
