10-21-18

As you can see, I have gotten better at handles. Being able to trim at home has really helped me practice. And, I designed and printed letter stamps on my 3D printer and now I can write things on the mugs.

10-13-18

My husband is so sweet. I told him I wished I could do pottery at home and he built me a wheel. It's got enough torque to trim, but not to throw. So now I can throw at the studio and then bring things home to trim over the weekend. I'm so happy to have this!!!

10-8-18

I have a goal to make 20 mugs and the handles are difficult for me. So are the bases--- but I'm determined to find time to do this. If only I could do it at home and not just during the day at the studio.

10-10-18

Hurricane Michael.
We just got a lot of rain, but it was so sad seeing the destruction along the coast. Dan and I were supposed to be in Appalachicola this weekend on a mid-semester break but we had to cancel.

10-5-18

Today was the department vote for my promotion to Full Professor. While I got two NO votes, I had six YES votes so the proposal passed and was sent to the Dean. I think she likes and respects me (she came to my art opening!) so hopefully she signs off. I'm here with my colleague and friend, BirdLady who was voted unanimously to be promoted to Associate Professor.

10-3-18

My first teapot!
I made a hollow sphere then cut the top out, added a spout and handle, and base. It's pretty small (lots of shrinkage) but cute. Maybe I should take it to my office when I acquire four matching tea cups.

9-28-18

Today was the opening for the art exhibit and my 8' x 5' mural on the history of 20th century science was there. I had students attend, both parents, Dan of course, and even friends and colleagues and THE DEAN of my College! It was really cool to get to do this.

9-22-18

I have this gardenia and little painting to Bob. His birthday was this week. Mom had a party. Dad was there. See below.

My sock is coming along.

9-21-18

Working on a sock

Dan gave this espresso maker for me for my birthday.

I picked these up from the studio.

This is what I look like. Wrinkles and all.

9-20-18

My hair is getting longer.

Today we visited my friend's father who is in the hospital.
I'm losing weight still.
I had to teach.

9-17-18

Today was exhausting.
I had to figure out how to mount my mural and take it to the museum. Yesterday I spent all day working on the book and finally got it print off.
Then I had to teach tonight.

9-16-18

I invented a pancake breakfast recipe. Almond flour, eggs, spices, and oats....

9-14-18

Squirt sent me a new display for my door and it works!
The hurricane hits shore.

9-13-18

My friend SueEC sent me this painting.

A hurricane is bearing down on the Carolinas.

9-12-18

9-11-18

I turned 55 today. My friend Shell reminded me that I could get a free coffee from Mama Mocha's so I did!

I also baked a flourless chocolate cake (a WW recipe) for my students in class tonight.

9-10-18

I finished another scarf.

9-9-18

Mom invited us over for an early birthday dinner since I'll be teaching on my birthday. She made a peach pie.

9-8-18

I discovered Halo Top and felt pretty bad eating so much.

9-7-18

Managed to go to the studio and glaze a bowl and see that Babar had died.

My friend Shell sent me a really cute t-shirt for my birthday!!!

9-5-18

Today, Wednesday, I made my rounds out in the schools-- it was exhausting, and then I went to IAMBK for the first evening of the quarter, and the head pain just grew. I ended up in bed with a migraine for the next two days. I overdid it.

9-4-18

I managed to get to the studio this morning to glaze some things.

And make some things.

And make a round bottom for my hanging planter.

9-3-18

Today was Labor Day and so Dan and I went on an adventure. We went to Montgomery and saw the capital building, and the streets were empty because of the holiday in the state capital.

Oh, this is the Weight Watchers dessert I made for dinner. Jumping ahead.

This tree on the grounds of the Capital building grew from a seed that went to the Moon and back.

We went to the memorial to victims of lynching in the United States. It was very sad and moving.

9-1-18

This is a pendant that belonged to my great grandmother.
This is my weight loss so far.

8-31-18

Babar the teapot is done and drying....

This is going to be a hanging planter.

And I finished this scarf.
