We drove to Charlottesville today to meet up with my old best friends there, M and K. We spent the afternoon at M's house and then drove into C'ville for Bodo's Bagels. We parked right near the school where I used to teach, which was wierd.

This is my cousin. I found him on 23&Me and we started chatting via email, and then Zoom.. and today we met for dinner in Richmond! He and his wife live in Virginia Beach but they drove to Richmond to meet us. Very cool.

Dan and I are on a trip. First we stopped in Hilton Head to visit with his sister and her family. They rented a house. I brought my accreditation work with me and set up shop in the kitchen table to work on it. We also enjoyed the beach!

Another craft I'm working on is weaving. I'm not sure what the science will be.... but here is a piece I made today.

Today I had some kids over to make paper with me. We did it out back and the paper turned out really well. We used kozo and lavender flowers and some recycled pulp.

So, I love making things, especially things from scraps. It feels good to bring new life to something that would ordinarily be thrown away. I ordered several pounds of fabric scraps from Alabama Chanin. They sell all their scraps. I'm making a blanket from them in this hexagon pattern.

Floam.
When I was getting my PhD I had some of this to fuss with, and when I was shopping at Hobby Lobby I saw it on the shelves so bought it.

We went for a trip to see our niece Em who is studying medicine a couple hours south of here. We got a tour of her school and her apartment and downtown, and went out to lunch.

I got an old Mini DV camera off Facebook and bought a converter and am converting old family movies into YouTube videos. Great fun!

When we were in Denver waiting on baby J's birth, I made little figures while sitting on the big chair and watching TV every night. Here they are fired...

When baby J was born, I smooshed his feet into some clay and brought it home. Here it is, fired, with a cobalt wash rubbed into it.

I stopped blogging on December 31st, 2020 and just now, in July, realize how much I miss it- so I'm going to try and catch up. This was a loaf of Challah bread that I made. I can tell from photos at this time that I was doing work on my Jewish genealogy and wanted to try to make Challah for Friday night.
