When we moved into our house, we were told about the yellow roses that the former owner planted. The roses didn't do too well for a few years, but now when they bloom in the spring, they fill up the fence.

This woman and I have the same mitochondrial DNA and I think we got it from a woman on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay back in the late 1700s. It's shocking how much we resemble each other.

When my sister Sakura was a little girl, she wanted this doll, which was $80 at the local store, Betsy's on Ross. I chipped in $40 and Sakura saved up $40 and we bought her together. She got very dirty over the past 45 years, and so I gave her a bath today so that Rose can play with her.

My cousin EZ found this photo of my grandfather when he was a boy!!! He was born in 1908 so this is probably 1913.

I created a lesson with one of my students where the kids had to repair bones, and then I fired them in the kiln to see which ones were repaired well. kindof a silly activity, but it was fun for them.

I have been helping out at the synagogue during Sunday school. Today we talked about the seven species and we dissected a pomegranate and some dates, and planted the seeds of both.

I just love this photo of the two sisters and the twin cousins! School is fixing to start back up for me. It was a rough December with a bladder flare, and I got FMLA leave coverage for 20 hours a week if I need it. Quitting is on my mind most days.

It's been a long time, and I miss this blog. I think it helps ground me in time and space to create a story I can look back on and see where I am. I skipped much of 2023-- the year we went to Israel, the year I became Jewish, the year I started the program at school that took every ounce of my energy.
So, starting fresh with 2024.
Aza had little baby Ozzi last month. Jes came to visit with little Roo and big sister Rose is just loving being a big sister. It is so much fun to see the twin cousins play together. You can see the green blanket I knit for Ozzi.
