The landscape students presented their designs to us today. The first is creative and beautiful, and the last was whimsical and fairy tale like. They all had good ideas.

Frisbee is going downhill. He is weak and has to be coaxed to eat anything. We watched The Notebook tonight and got sad thinking about losing our buddy. Here he is with his puppy toy.

7-27-13

Mom came over tonight to watch some PBS shows we taped for her. She brought a Burger King sandwich and fries with her, which is a sight we have never seen. Frisbee loved the fries. He is not eating much. I gave him salmon tonight and a hot dog and he ate fries.

7-26-13

Mom's kitchen is being renovated. And her little kitchen. And her dining room. And her carport. It's not fun to watch at this stage- the demolition phase.

I was sad today. Hard to come back from being with Jes. I cried at work.

7-25-13

Back in Alabama tonight.

7-24-13

We left Crestone and passed through Salida and Leadville.

I loved this artwork- we saw it in both places.

Passed over the high Rockies and back to Denver for one last night with Jes and Root.

7-23-13

I finished my silk scarf today.

We went to town and had dinner and a walk, then walked up into the hills.

We walked about 4.4 miles and saw a bunch of spiritual centers. It was quiet, we saw only a couple human souls. I learned how to blog with more than one photo from my phone!

Memory of the day- dinner at Bliss Cafe and all the characters we saw there like big hat over hair man, cowboy man, old coffee man, silent black haired lady, snot nosed kid, tattoo muffin top girl, colored dreds lady and old lady with tie dye skirt.

7-22-13

This morning we ascended the tallest sand dunes in the US. Well, not all the way. You can't even fathom their size. They are like nothing else. Mountains of sand.

This afternoon we explored the area then went to dinner at an organic farm-to-fork place. Dan had yak.

This evening we went to a local hot spring for a soak. Crocheting and drinking tea now in our adobe/straw bale funky new age house.

7-21-13

Like I said, things are strange in Colorado. Today we are in Crestone, a little town at the foot of a mountain range full of religious ashrams and temples and other Buddhist and Hindu centers. We are staying in a house made from hay bales and mud. It is peaceful and quiet and grounding in an amazing way. The moon was full tonight. Tomorrow we will explore.

7-20-13

Colorado is a strange place. Today we went to a place called Red Rocks where they were having a fitness expo. We got free samples of all sorts of health foods and Jes and Root did yoga in a big rock amphitheater.

7-19-13

An awesome yarn shop two blocks from Jes's house is having a sale! I walked up there and brought home some beautiful silk, merino, and cotton blends.

7-18-13

We are in Denver with Jes and Root! My grant was submitted this morning by the university and we left Auburn at 11:00am. Dinner tonight at a hip Mexican place. So great to be with my girl.

7-16-13

Oh boy will I be glad when this grant is submitted tomorrow. It's been quite the chore.

7-15-13

The big shock of the day was walking in my mom's house and seeing her renovations underway. The dining room is opened up and this mirror has come down. It's freaky after so long to see a change.

7-13-13

Busy week- I was writing every moment I could. We went to dinner this evening with this cutie and her parents and Mimi. I had too much tiramisu for dessert!

7-9-13

Student designed! The kids really liked my curriculum.

7-8-13

Getting ready to teach a new curriculum tomorrow.

7-7-13

I got a paper accepted with minor revisions today. Worked on IRB stuff last night. Went to church with my mom and out to brunch with her friends. Tired tonight. I have to plan a class I'm teaching on Tuesday.

7-6-13

Aza left today to drive back to Virginia. She said goodbye to Frisbee and hopes he will be around a while longer. She made it back safely in 11 hours or so. I worked on my grant all day.

7-5-13

Happy birthday Jes! Wish you were with us today. We went to Niffers to celebrate and were seated as the "Rebels."

7-2-13

Aza and I got pedicures today. Then we went out for coffee. It is starting to rain

7-1-13

My sweetie and Aza hung drapes for me today while I was working.

6-30-13

Aza and Squirt and I hung these curtains yesterday. It was a PAIN. The curtain hooks were missing in all the other packages AND I was sick of messing with those things you have to put in plaster before you put screws in... so I quit. Today I worked on my grant and had dinner at Mom's.
This evening Aza and Squirt are watching old home movies. They are laughing their tails off and so are we!

6-29-13

The dogs were still around today. They slept in the workshop last night. The tan one knows how to sit and shake.

6-28-13

Got home from Atlanta on Wednesday and worked worked worked. Today there was a big storm and a tree fell across the street onto the wires. See it? It was scarey. Aza came at dinner time. My mom came over and we had a chicken stew I made from a recipe I got off the Internet. It was not good. Two dogs wandered into our yard and we had a difficult time trying to figure out what to do with them. The dachshund was really hyper and barked a lot. The other one was really smart.

6-24-13

Centennial Park water fountain show. We were walking to dinner and saw this. A little girl tried to dance in it and got scooped up by her father. We had dinner at a Mexican place that was fantastic. I had fried avocado tacos. It was a great treat after a day of attending sessions.

6-25-13

Today I gave a paper and moderated a session. When it was all over it was a big relief. This is the sunset reflected in a skyscraper in Atlanta. I really love our view.

6-23-13

Today I attended an all day workshop called STEM Smart. It was mainly for teachers, so I was a but underwhelmed but got to make a magic wand. I got upset when one group was using nanoparticles to make solar panels and left. Tonight is the super moon. Closer and brighter than normal, it was really cool to see out the hotel window. We are staying at the amazing Omni downtown.

6-22-13

My friend ML came into town tonight to attend the second day of the conference tomorrow. We went for a walk in Centennial Park. In the distance you can see something about World of Coke. Today was a K12 workshop about engineering education and I helped do a session which went very well. Dinner at a Turkish restaurant with a belly dancer. I didn't like the belly dancer but Dan did.

6-21-13

Today after a busy day of packing and work, we left for HotLanta for my 5 days of conferencing. I haven't been in a city in a long while. It was a bit overwhelming but I guess I'll get used to it.

6-20-13

Frisbee doesn't feel well. I wish I knew what he was thinking and feeling. He went to the vet recently and checked out ok. He's just old. Today I worked on my grant application.

6-19-13

So I had to travel to a school about 45 minutes away this morning and I had an address but ended up seeing the school as I went by towards the address I had. So I tried to go down one street (dead end) and then another (dead end) to get back to the school. I was observing trainers teach teachers. Long day. Sleepy ride back home afterwards.
