 Everyone is coming into town. Here is a panorama of Grandma's living room. See the middle lamp in front of the window? That is where she died in her hospital bed. We are gathered here in her honor and memory, and feel her with us.

The long driveway to Grandma's house. It used to be covered in shells. Now it is paved. My dad planted trees all along the left. Fruit trees. Mangos, I think.

We arrived in Lake Arthur. This building was once the Western Auto where my grandfather worked, back when the town was booming. Now it is drying up. There is one good restaurant and a beautiful lake side park. And a family reunion!!!!

The steins turned out really well!!!

At my afterschool program, we were working on a wind turbine. 

I did a drawing for a mug since I got to 500 followers in Instagram. These two won. A stranger and a student!

I got some cool stuff from the kiln today. A dog bowl, a vase, and a box shaped like a guitar pick.

The vase was made from Lizella, which covers well in porcelain slip. Remember that, Chrissy!

A friend asked me to make two large planters for her mother so here I am throwing the largest things I've ever made. 14" across and 4" high. 

I also wanted to make some steins for the local brewery and am glazing two sizes differently.

Sakura is in town giving a talk at the university. We went to a luncheon where she spoke after visiting classrooms. It was a short but sweet visit!

I got this invitation today... because I won the graduate teaching award for the College of Education (see, I told you that I work). Today I went to the studio and picked up two garlic roasters I'd made with Lizella clay. See the red color?

Now I am making steins for a local brewery.

I carved the relief for a clay sticker.

And made the stein just so... so it would be 1 pint when shrunk.

I am so happy with this. and this. and this.

Dan and I went to get BBQ after picking up all this stuff from the studio. We went to the courthouse lawn and sat on a bench in front of the blue water fountain and ate. I was so excited to be bringing all my goodies home, that I took pictures as soon as we got back.

My crown fell out of my mouth. I was driving back from a middle school in the country when I felt something near this tooth, like something was stuck, and I picked at it, and off popped my tooth crown. I was so freaked out, I had to go home and get in bed. The raw stump of a tooth nub hurt! It was an ugly brown and looked like it was full of cavities. I was SO freaked out, I didn't go to my afterschool club.

These turned out well. I bought some pink high fire underglaze so the pink wouldn't burn out.

Lizella clay is ugly when glazed in clear. I made this test tile with measurement marks up to 10. It shrank to 8.9 from 10. It's beautiful raw-- a brick red-- but uuuuuugly glazed.

One of my PhD students has successfully defended her dissertation. The other is next week.
