3-7-22

We went for a walk with Jay to the Town Creek pond to see the turtles and big fish. Next time we need to remember to bring some bread to throw in the water. There were some crumbs on the deck, and that was fun to watch!

A stop at the art museum installation...

3-5-22

Pregnant sisters at their brother's wedding. What a lovely, absolutely perfect day.

My sisters came... and I got to spend a day with them.

and my son married his best friend.

Our mother/son dance was very touching.

All the grandparents were there!

The cake my mom made was spectacular.

The ring bearer....

3-4-22

Look who arrived!?!?
He found the cat bed :)

He reminds me of his mommy when she was this age.

3-3-22

The wedding is two days a way. Helping mom today with the cake some more. I was tasked with rolling the gummy surface off the cake layers. Kinda gross. I enjoyed eating ALL the scraps though!

2-26-22

My mom is working on baking Squirt's wedding cake. She is still in a wheelchair but stands for brief periods on one leg.

2-22-22

Tonight in class we dyed fabric with indigo. Here are two undergrads really getting creative.

It was quite a mess and the stains in the countertop never came out.

I took a friend's broken mug and made a coaster out of it.

Student working on her handmade paper.

2-20-22

My mom celebrated her 88th birthday today with her closest friends.

2-16-22

I did an indigo dyeing workshop for OLLI.

2-13-22

We celebrated Squirt's 31st birthday today.

2-3-22

I am still eating a very restricted diet due to my bladder problem. This is a cookie I created from five ingredients- cashews, coconut sugar, oat flour, salt, and water. It's so good, I eat them all in one sitting!

1-27-22

We spent MLK day in B'ham checking out the historical sites.

1-23-22

Shopping for wedding attire!

1-18-22

I'm teaching a class on the science in crafts this semester and her my students are processing clay dug up from the pit next door.

1-5-22

This is baby Winston. He is very little- only 10 weeks along, which make him only 8 weeks since conception. Look how little and cute he is floating around inside his mommy, Jes. I think he is on his side on top of his placenta, as we shall find out later down the road.

1-3-22

I taught J how to throw on a wheel today.

1-1-22

New year, new day... visiting with my mom at the hospital.
Squirt and Panda on the first day of the year the get married.

Here is our family on the first day of 2022!

12-31-21

New Year's Eve 2021

Somebody is ready for dinner!

12-30-21

J wearing his mommy's nightgown from 1986.

Snuggles with Nana in Aza's overalls from 1988 or 1989.

Aza's overalls look good on Baby J!

We had a baby shower for Aza today in the carport. We were worried about Covid and it was raining so we had it in the carport.

J is walking! Note the childproof locks- we had to put them on everything because J likes taking everything out of everything.

12-29-21

Mom had surgery on her leg. It looks gross, but it sure feels better to her. The yellow is iodine, I think.
My sister is in town and we take turns going to see her every day.

12-27-21

Aza and Supbra came to town and we went shopping at Target for items for the diaper cake! I got to take a picture of her with the "Half Baked" ice cream since she is 20 weeks pregnant!

12-25-21

An accidental photo I found on my phone to remember our Christmas, 2021. We went over to Panda's parents' house. I could only eat chicken soup that I brought with me. My mom was slated for surgery the next day. Our kids were coming home soon and we were just exhausted.

12-24-21

We are back in the ER.
The leg is really bad off and we just have to get Mom admitted to the hospital so they can help her. We were successful and she stayed for several weeks. I was recovering from bladder surgery, Mom was not sleeping and was getting daft, and it was just awful.

12-23-21

A peaceful moment in the days we spent at home with my mom after her leg break. Note the red sock on her toes to warn us not to bump into her leg. The five days we spent helping her were anything but peaceful. She was in terrible pain and we could not move her easily from bed to chair to toilet.

12/20/21

My mom fell and broke her leg. This is a photo of her leg right after it happened. We rushed over and found her on the kitchen floor. We dragged a mattress into the kitchen and got her up on it waiting for the ambulance. She was taken to the ER and I stayed with her until they released her to go home with a cloth brace on her leg from groin to ankle, a bed pan, and some Vicodin.

12/13/21

A student came by today and gave me this blanket she'd made for me.
